We always find a way to cook using tin foil, so I’m a big, big fan of any and all gluten-free tin foil meals. While there are a ton to choose from, these are just a few of my favorites.

See the pattern here? Most people arrive at a campsite around 3 PM on a Friday night and leave by noon on Sunday morning.

When you factor in that time, you really only need to play for 2 breakfasts, 1 lunch, and 2 dinners. Make up gluten-free camping meals that you can reuse leftovers for other meals, too!

What kind of food should I bring for camping?

A good rule of thumb is to bring food that’s simple to make and doesn’t require to be kept hot or cold. Of course, if you have room in your cooler or fridge, it’s a different story, but make certain that you pack food items that can handle the weather as well.

Canned food items and fresh fruits and veggies are always a great choice! Other great food items to take camping are:

  • Chips/Snack Mix

Again, the simpler, the better! Snacks that can withstand all types of weather are the best. Examples include:

You can also make sure that you pack items for your camping menu that you can enjoy for dessert, too. Meal options that require minimal meal prep are great options, too!

This would be skillet meals, foil packet meals, and anything including fresh veggies as well.

What are good and quick options for camping?

When it comes to make-ahead meals, I’m all about this list of gluten-free camping recipes. You can also prep any of your favorite camping meals and pack them in a large plastic container or storage container for your outdoor adventure.

Since breakfast is the most important meal of the day, I’ll often pack fresh fruit, energy bites, and a simple protein source as a way to feed myself and stick to my gluten-free lifestyle.

You can also premake some pancake mix and pack some maple syrup as a fun treat for special occasions, too.

No matter the cooking method that you are used to, remember to pack a cast iron skillet or dutch oven so that it can cook over the campfire and withstand the heat.
