13, 1911, in Beaumont to LeGrand and Nancy Carney. She was a retired nurse with Travis Clinic in Jacksonville and resided in Fort Worth for 25 years. She was a member of Travis Street Baptist Church, Fort Worth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Johnston in Survivors include four nieces; Billy Jean Mackie, Concord, Nancy Choat, Austin, Virginia Mayfield and Betty Louise Wood, Jacksonville; six nephews, Gene Edward Carney, Troup, Charles Carney, Port Arthur, LeGrand V. Mrs. Jones died Thursday a afternoon in Rusk. She was born Jan. 29, 1950, in Childress to Willie Sr. and Zeola Stewart Windom.

After the death of her parents she was adopted by the Rev. J.W. and Margaret Windom. She was reared in Elm Grove community of Rusk and attended G.W. Bradford School.

After residing in Houston for many years, she returned to Rusk in 1990 and was a member of Elm Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Allen Jones Sr. Survivors include one son daughter-in-law, Lawrence A. and Betty Jones, Jacksonville; three sa and Patrick Session, and Kimberdaughters and one son Terely Jones, all of Rusk, and Evonne Jones, Jacksonville; two brothers, Willie Windom Floydada, and Elmer John Windom, Garland; one sister, Georgia Mae Walker, Dallas; one uncle, Jesse Windom, Jacksonville; 12 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Mr. Roe died Saturday afternoon at a Buffalo nursing home. He was born Dec. 13, 1905, in Oakwood to William and Fannie Stanton Roe. He was a farmer and member of Memorial Baptist Church of Oakwood.

Mrs. Humble died Saturday morning in a Jacksonville nursing home. She was born Dec. 1, 1894, in Jacksonville and resided in the area most of her life. She was a retired nurse's aide and a member of First Baptist Church of Maydelle.

Survivors include one son, Lee McMahon, Jacksonville; four grandchildren, Jim McMaho, Houston, the Rev. (AP) Two teen-agers despondent over the death of rock star Kurt Cobain were found dead in an apparent double suicide, police said.

Thomas Rodriguez, 15, and Nicholas Camperi, 14, died from blasts from a shotgun that had been locked in a gun locker at Rodriguez's house, Middlesex County Prosecutor Robert Gluck said Saturday. John Wesley and Anna Price Hanco*ck. He graduated from Fred Douglass High School in Jacksonville and received his bachelor's degree from Texas College in 1932, after which he taught school in Cherokee, Smith and Nacogdoches counties. He served in the U.S. Army with the Medical Corps attached to the 365th Engineers Division. He served.

in the European theater, receiving two citations for outstanding service as a medical technician. He was ordained while serving in the U.S. Army. Dr. Hanco*ck received his master's degree from University of Colorado in 1947 and Doctor of Education in 1951.

He taught at Langston University in Langston, was dean at Texas College and Jarvis Christian College, and director of graduate studies at Hampton University, Hampton, Va. In 1967 he became the 11th president of Texas College, serving until retirement in 1980. During his tenure, Texas College was accepted into the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Dr. Hanco*ck helped formulate the United Negro Fund Drive, now known as "Parade of Stars," added 14 doctorates to the faculty of Texas College and initiated the John and Anna Hanco*ck Endowment Scholarship.

He was listed in the 1974-75 issue of Who's Who Among Black Colleges and Universities and was a Vivian D. Swan Services for Vivian Leona Davidson Swan, 96, Odessa, mother of Tyler resident, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Arnold MooreDewey Funeral Home chapel in Dewey, with the Rev. Ralph O. Dershem officiating.

Burial will be in the Dewey Cemetery. Mrs. Swan died Thursday in an Odessa nursing care center. She was born March 7, 1898, near Dewey to the late Daniel Denton and Minnie Belle David Davidson and lived in Dewey until 1947, when she moved to Phillips. She moved to Odessa in 1980.

She was a Baptist. Mrs. Swan was preceded in death by five brothers, six sisters, including her twin sister, Mrs. Jessie Taggart, and one grandson, Ricky J. Taylor.

Monday at of Memory Funeral Home chapel in Palestine with Dr. Tom Rousseau officiating. Burial will be in Land of Memory Cemetery. Mrs. Whitaker died Saturday afternoon in Palestine.

She was born April 19, 1904, in Grapeland to Gilbert Montier and Nimmie Eulalia Colbert Walton. She resided in Palestine most of her life, attended Enon School in Houston County and was an active member of First Christian Church, Order of the Eastern Star and the Senior Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Whitaker in 1962. Survivors include one daughter, Sue Nichols, Mexia; one brother, Stanley Walton, Palestine; two sisters, Lelia Crutcher, Palestine, and Laura Claybourn, Dallas; three granddaughters; and eight greatgrandchildren. Pallbearers include Joe Crutcher, Mike Bishop, Billy Walton, Jim Bishop and Thomas Willingham.
