What if UPS delivered a package that is not mine? ›

If you receive someone else's package, you are legally obligated to return it to the sender or contact UPS to arrange for its return.

You cannot drop off a UPS package at a USPS station. Nor can you ask USPS pickup for a UPS package. You can only use USPS pick-up or stations for products being shipped via US Postal Service. United Parcel Service is NOT the same as US Postal Service.

Contact your local USPS post office. Make sure you contact your LOCAL post office, and not the USPS hotline. Your local post office will be able to provide quicker, and better service. Ask who delivered the package, and ask for the details of that day's delivery.

Alternatively, you or your customer can redirect any shipment to a UPS Access Point® before it arrives for delivery. If you're dropping off a package for delivery, the process is similar. Simply scan your label at the kiosk, the door will open, and you leave your package there to be picked up by the UPS driver.

You can make a USPS package drop off at a Post Office, at a blue box, or by arranging a pickup.

You have the flexibility to use any box or mailer to fit your item or brand up to one cubic foot in size (1,728 cubic inches).

When you receive a mistaken delivery, call customer service for the delivery company and explain the situation. Give them the tracking number on the package, as well as the name and address on the package if it's different from yours. The company will come and pick up the product within a reasonable time frame.

If your UPS package has been delivered to the wrong address, start by contacting the person who received the package to see if they are willing to return it. If not, contact UPS customer service and provide them with the tracking number and delivery confirmation information.
